Brendon J. Burley

Brendon J. Burley is a senior in the Architectural Engineering Program at The Pennsylvania State University. He entered this program from Downingtown High School, located in Downingtown PA, where he worked part-time between two civil engineering firms as a professional draftsperson during his junior and senior years. For the past four years he has been studying engineering with an emphasis on structures. His course work in this area has included analysis of structures, intermediate design of steel, intermediate design of concrete, and indeterminate analysis. He has also been performing research on thermal properties of green construction. This work combines coursework in thermodynamics, fluids, and heat transfer with practical experience in lab instrumentation and experiment planning. In addition to his responsibilities in the lab he takes an active role in both professional and social societies. He is currently the vice president of the PA Beta chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honors society, a position he has held since January. He is also the acting secretary for the developing Harry Potter fan club, Three Broomsticks and for the past three years he has held an officer position with the Penn State Science Fiction Society.
