Nolan Amos is a fifth year Architectural Engineering student enrolled at The Pennsylvania State University, in the Mechanical option. He will graduate in May of 2016 with an ABET Accredited Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree. Upon graduation, Nolan will be eligible to become an Engineer in Training (EIT). He is already certified as a LEED Green Associate.
For the past three summers, Nolan has held internships working within the building industry. In addition to the internships, he has worked as a research assistant for a full year within the architectural engineering department and has performed part-time mechanical design work for the past semester. Additionally, Nolan spent one summer belowground in a coal mine as an underground apprentice. While mining, he learning to manage workers while completing complex and often dangerous tasks, such as longwall tear down.Throughout these experiences Nolan has become proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Trane Trace 700, performing takeoffs and reviewing drawings. Currently, Nolan is passionate about opportunities involving Net Zero and Net Positive solutions as well as High-Performance buildings.
Outside of the classroom, Nolan has been involved in Alpha Phi Omega, the Penn State Blue Band, and Council of Lionhearts. Nolan works extensively on campus promoting volunteerism and community service. He also enjoys backpacking, fly-fishing, rock climbing and cycling.
Upon graduation in May, Nolan is planning on spending four months thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail before starting his career in Lexington, Kentucky as a mechanical engineer.
