Daniel Hesington is currently in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May 2010, he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree, with a focus in structural systems. Daniel is a member of several professional and student organizations including the student chapter of Structural Engineers Association and AISC.
During the past three summers, Daniel participated in a structural engineering internship as a building systems intern with Mulkey Engineers and Consultants. Working with Mulkey has provided him with valuable experience and insight into the design, coordination, and construction of a variety of building types. Daniel successfully passed his LEED AP exam this summer and also passed the FE Exam in Spring 2008, and will gain EIT status upon graduation. In the short term, he looks forward to beginning work as structural engineer for a consulting or AE firm to gain knowledge and practical experience in the structural engineering profession and to obtain his license as a Professional Engineer (PE).
Outside of academics, Daniel enjoys playing golf, both for leisure and competitively. He was a two year starter and letter winner in high school and continues to play a number of tournaments for charity and personal development. He also enjoys the outdoors and backpacking in particular. He is a National Eagle Scout award winner and continues to hike and backpack in his free time.
