UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS

During the fall of 2001 I had the opportunity to travel to England and study in Leeds for a semester.  Leeds is located about three hours north of London by train.  The university offers an exchange program for students majoring in Architectural Engineering.  While in Leeds, I completed classes in architecture and structural engineering, through their civil engineering department.  This experience provided a different perspective of architecture and structural engineering from what we get in this country.  Some of the architecture classes went into the history of Leeds and other cities in the area.  It was interesting to see how much farther back the histories of these cities extended than any cities in the U.S.  Photographs and samples of work from my semester in Leeds can be viewed through the links below.

The Baines Wing - This architecture project traced the history of a local building from its original use to its present state.  The building I chose was called the Baines Wing and was located on the campus of the University of Leeds, formerly Yorkshire College.
