Michael Hoffacker
Michael Hoffacker is a 5th year Architectural Engineering Student who will graduate from The Pennsylvania State University with an Integrated Bachelor/Master degree. In addition to focusing his studies on the mechanical systems in buildings and building performance, he will earn his EIT certificate upon graduation. He is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
Mike has had a variety of internships in the building industry. For his first summer in college Mike worked for an electrical controls company in State College, PA as a CAD Technician. During the summer of 2010, Mike worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he spent the summer working on a variety of bridge projects in the area. For the summer of 2011 Mike worked at Jacobs Engineering Group in Arlington, VA, where he spent his time working as a project management intern at a high school located in Pasadena, MD. Last summer he spent his time working in Elkridge, MD for Leach Wallace Associates, Inc., a mechanical and electrical design firm concentrating in the design of hospitals. While working at Leach Wallace Associates, Inc., Mike assisted in the HVAC design, LEED Documentation and field survey work for a variety of hospitals.
Outside of academics, Mike has taken leadership roles in student organizations, which has enhanced his communication, time management, and professional skills. He is currently the Vice-President of ASHRAE and also served in many positions for his fraternity, including President. Mike also enjoys playing guitar, skiing, mountain biking, soccer, and running. Mike looks forward to applying his professional and educational skills upon graduation.
