MICHAEL'S BIOGRAPHY

Michael is currently a 5th year student in the Architectural Engineering program at the Pennsylvania State University and has chosen to concentrate in the study of HVAC systems for buildings.  Upon graduation in May 2010, Michael will earn an Integrated Bachelor of Architectural Engineering/ Master of Architectural Engineering degree, as well as gaining EIT status. 

For the past three summers, Michael has been able to gain valuable experience in different aspects of the building industry.  Michael completed two summer internships with James G. Davis Construction, a general contractor in Rockville, MD.  He spent the summer of 2008 working on an office building renovation in downtown Washington, D.C.   After studying abroad in Rome, Italy to start the summer of 2009, Michael returned to James G. Davis Construction where he worked on the construction site of two future office buildings in Arlington, VA. Michael most recently completed a HVAC design internship at Bard, Rao + Athanas Consulting Engineers in the Boston, MA area.   Michael’s time at BR+A was spent learning how to design and coordinate complex HVAC systems for university laboratories and health care facilities. Michael hopes to start his career at a firm that values integrated project delivery and sustainability in the design of the highly efficient buildings.

Outside of academics, Michael has taken leadership roles within various professional and student organizations.  He currently serves President of MCAA-PSU Student Chapter for the 2010-2011 school year and was Treasurer for S:PACE during the 2009-2010 school year.   Michael has been a student member of ASHRAE and SSAE and has been inducted into the Tau Beta Pi and Phi Alpha Epsilon Honor Societies. In his free time, he enjoys participating in intramural sports, especially basketball and has participated in Penn State's Boxing Club.

Future Plans

Michael will be beginning his career with Bard, Rao + Athanas Consulting Engineers in their Watertown, MA headquarters office. Michael completed an HVAC design internship with BR+A in the summer of 2010. During this time, he built valuable relationships and learned HVAC design first hand. Michael is eager to relocate to the Boston area and will rejoin BR+A this summer.
