~ Thesis Abstract ~

The Montgomery County Conference Center and Hotel (MCCCH), also known as The Bethesda North Marriot Hotel and Conference Center, is a brand new facility located in Rockville, MD, set to open its doors to the public on November 1, 2004. The conference center is composed of many different types of spaces like its 21 conference rooms and classrooms, a 130-seat ampitheatre, and the third largest ballroom in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The hotel contains 225 guestrooms, a restaurant, lounge, indoor pool, and fitness center.

This diversity of the building's spaces is what initially sparked my interest in using MCCCH for my senior thesis project. Being a mechanical option student, the many different areas in the building provide me the chance to explore several different mechanical systems and their controls. The current central plant for the building contains 2-direct fired absorption chillers which further extend my interest in MCCCH.
