(Mike has recently accepted a summer internship with Buro Happold in New York, NY)

Michael J. Steehler originally hails from Rochester, NY, a city known for its ferocious winters, innovation in film technology, industrial architecture, and general tendency to pile a combination of greasy foods into an interesting mixture known as a "garbage plate". It is from the womb of this great city that Michael emerged, generating a passion for knowledge and a determination to achieve.

After graduating from Greece Athena High School in 2002, Mike was fortunate enough to continue his education through the architectural engineering program at Penn State. This rigorous and highly-regarded program is a perfect fit, as it allows him to combine his creative nature and love for architecture with his skills in math and science. Currently in his fifth year, Mike has chosen a structural focus, and has been accepted into the masters program. He is a current member of the Structural Engineer's Association (SEA) and Phi Alpha Epsilon, the Architectural Engineering Honor Society. He intends to graduate in December of 2007 with an integrated B.A.E. / M.A.E. degree and continue his career in the structural design of buildings. It is the opportunity to create great buildings that motivates him to be successful. Upon graduation, he intends to pursue a professional engineering license.

Mike had the opportunity to apply his education through an internship with SWBR Architects & Engineers in Rochester, NY. In this great experience, he worked on a variety of projects and a variety of aspects of structural engineering.

In addition to architecture and structural engineering, Mike has a passion for music. He also enjoys softball and, of course, bowling. He is outgoing and friendly, striving to meet new people, enjoy new experiences, and live life to the fullest. He is extremely thankful for his loving family, great friends, and the opportunities that he has enjoyed so far.
