Joseph W. Wilcher III graduated from Penn-Trafford High School, located in Harrison City, PA (near Pittsburgh) in 2004. Before graduating, he enrolled in the Architectural Engineering program at The Pennsylvania State University. In May 2009, Joseph will graduate with a Bachelor and Master of Architectural Engineering emphasizing on structures and will gain EIT status upon graduating. Mr. Wilcher hopes to join an AE/Structural Engineering Firm after graduation to start his professional career as an engineer.
Prior to graduating from Penn-Trafford, Joseph took four years of AutoCad and drafting classes. He also excelled in his mathematics and science classes. Once Mr. Wilcher learned that Penn State offered a major which had the marriage of architecture and engineering, he knew that Architectural Engineering was the correct major for him.
When Joseph arrived at Penn State, he discovered his passion for structural engineering within the Architectural Engineering program. He interned with Franklin Regional Engineering during the summer of 2007 and gained practice in designing structural members and grew his knowledge of AutoCad as well. In the summer of 2008, he interned with Timothy Haahs & Associates. While at Timothy Haahs, he gained experience and knowledge in the process of designing structures as well as restoration. Mr. Wilcher is also involved within the Architectural Engineering department as well. He currently serves as the President of Structural Engineers Association (SEA) which is the only chapter of the organization within the state of Pennsylvania. He also is a member of AEI and helps with THON.
On January 27, 2009, Joseph accepted a full time offer with The Structural Rehabilitation Group, a division of Strucutra located in Rockville Maryland. He will begin working there on June 15, 2008.
