Ben Borden's Bio

Ben Borden is currently in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May 2013 he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree, with a focus on structural systems. Mr. Borden is a member of several professional and student organizations including the Penn State Chapter of the Architectural Engineering Institute (Student Society of Architectural Engineers), Structural Engineers Association (SEA) and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute.

For the past year, Ben has been working in the Structures Research Laboratory under Penn State’s Architectural Engineering Department. During his time there he has performed loading and deflections analysis, as well as revitalization of the mechanical and control systems on their environmental temperature and humidity control chamber. Ben passed the FE Exam in October of 2011 and will receive EIT status upon graduation. He looks forward to beginning work as a structural engineer for a design firm, to gain knowledge and practical experience in the structural engineering profession, and to obtain his license as a Professional Engineer (PE).

Outside of his studies he is very involved in Disciplemakers Christian Fellowship where he also leads a bible study. Ben enjoys outdoor activities including biking, skiing, volleyball, climbing and nature photography.
