Jonathan E. Aberts

Jon grew up in south eastern PA where he was exposed to both new and old architecture on a daily basis. His father practiced carpentry and would often take Jon out with him on various jobs. As Jon moved through school, he found that his biggest strength was rooted in mathematics. This, coupled with the carpentry, fueled his passion for architectural design. His high school years were spent experimenting with the different features of AutoCAD in and out of class, not something you would typically see out of a football player. By playing with AutoCAD for 4 years, he became very proficient and was able to help his classmates succeed as well.

This new found talent was a stepping stone into an exciting new career. While he was still in high school, Jon landed a small internship with a local architectural firm, Arcus Design Group. Although he only spent a couple months there, his co-workers were astounded by his knowledge, persistence, and willingness to learn more. Jon's short stay at Arcus allowed him to get a feel of what he wanted to do for the rest of his working career. He not only wanted to design these buildings, he wanted to make sure they would stay up for a long time.

His aspirations to be an architect merged with his skills in mathematics when he found the Architectural Engineering program at Penn State. Three years before he even graduated high school, he began his focus on the program. Since attending Penn State in the fall of 2001, Jon has been dedicated to doing the best he can at everything laid out in front of him. Now, with almost 4.5 years behind him, Jon is eager to get out into the world and begin his dream of structural engineering.
