Michael is originally from West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.  After graduating from West Mifflin Area High School in 2002, Michael enrolled at the Pennsylvania State University where he continues to pursue a 5 year, ABET accredited degree in Architectural Engineering.  During his time at Penn State thus far, Michael has gained a strong understanding of design principals related to several different materials including concrete, steel, wood, and masonry.  Michael is now in his 9th semester of study, focusing on the structural option of the AE program.  He has taken and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and, upon graduation, will be considered an Engineer in Training. During his 4th year of the undergraduate program, Michael applied, and was accepted into the AE department’s Integrated Masters Program.  He is scheduled to graduate in December 2007 with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering.

The broad scope of the AE program has served its purpose, allowing Michael to further his experience in the construction industry.  During the past 3 summers, he has worked for several firms, including R.E. Crawford Construction (RECC), Foreman Program and Construction Managers, and Atlantic Engineering Services (AES).  While at RECC and Foreman, Michael was able to see the importance of communication and clarity in all aspects of the construction management industry.  This past summer, his experience working with AES afforded Michael the chance to actively participate in daily activities associated with structural design.

Outside of the classroom, Michael is enjoys many other activities including basketball, soccer, softball, and golf.  He is a member of Penn State’s Structural Engineers Association and Phi Alpha Epsilon (national architectural engineering honor society).
