Jonathan attended Westfield High School in Westfield, New Jersey.  Upon graduating from high school in 2002 he decided to pursue his education at The Pennsylvania State University.  Although initially enrolled in the Bachelor of Architecture Jonathan elected to change degree to a Bachelor’s of Architectural Engineering. He successfully completed one and a half years of background courses while he continued to pursue a level of education matching his year of initial enrollment.  In the summer of 2005 Jonathan participated in Penn State’s American Indian Housing Initiative where he traveled to the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation in Montana. There he worked with a team of volunteers from Penn State and other locations to assist in the construction of the Early Childhood Learning Center on the Chief Dull Knife College campus.   During this experience Jonathan gained knowledge of various aspects of sustainable building methods.  During the fall of 2005 traveled to Leeds, England where he spent the semester studying abroad and traveling.   While studying in England Jonathan was exposed to and gained a greater understanding of the cultural differences between the United States and much of Europe.  Following this experience he chose to go abroad again in the summer of 2006, during which he pursued a minor in Architectural Studies in Rome, Italy. Immediately following the Sede Di Roma Program Jonathan worked as an intern for Gillespie Engineering. Currently Jonathan is in his fifth year at PSU and intends to graduate in May 2007.  He is an active member of both the Structural Engineer Association and the Student Society of Architectural Engineers.  Jonathan volunteers at the Penn State Center for Sustainability.  He also is a member of the Structural & Building Envelope Design Team for Penn State’s entry into the Solar Decathlon.
