Adam Love is currently in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May 2010, he will graduate with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering and a Master of Architectural Engineering in the study of Structural Design, through the integrated program. Courses that Adam is taking under the integrated program are; Steel Connection Design, Design of Wood Structures, Building System Failures, Computer Modeling, Pre-stressed Concrete Design and Earthquake Design.
Adam was able to participate in one Structural Engineering Internship, a pre-cast concrete detailer, TRC Worldwide Engineering. There Adam was able to gain experience at detailing and drafting of pre-cast concrete members. The Internship also included engineering design; in which Adam designed and laid out engineering excel spread sheets for various member designs. During Adam’s architectural internship at Nutec Group, he learned about general architectural design, drafting skills, and application of building codes. Adam passed the FE Exam in April 2009 and will gain EIT status upon graduation. After graduating Adam is looking forward to working for a structural design firm and gaining practical experience. He plans to continue his studies in structural design, and to obtain his Professional Engineering License.
Adam is currently an AE Envoy, which is similar to a Lion Ambassador, but only for the Architectural Engineering Department. He gives tours to high school students to show them what the AE major is like, as well as the classes that every student has to take over the 5 year program. Adam is currently the Secretary for the Gaming Association of Penn State, a club the deals with retro board games.
