Jason Brognano is currently in his 5th year of study in Architectural Engineering, Lighting/Electrical option at Penn State. Upon graduation in May 2011, Jason will have earned a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree – an ABET accredited 5-year professional degree. His specialties within this program include architectural illumination, building power distribution, daylighting, and the building industry. Also upon graduation, Jason will achieve EIT status having already passed the FE Exam. His aspirations include furthering his knowledge of lighting and power systems and earning his PE license and other certifications, such as LEED AP and RCDD.
Jason has participated in internships in each of his last three summers. Most recently, he designed telecom layouts, electrical layouts, and lightning protection plans with Clark Nexsen Architecture & Engineering – a full-service AE firm in Norfolk, VA. Previous internships included field project engineering with Brayman Construction on the I-79 Wexford project and field site management with Clark Builders Group on the BRAC reconstruction at Ft. Belvoir, VA. Since the summer of 2008, Jason has gained OSHA 10-hour certification, as well as Sunbelt Rentals forklift certification.
Lighting, electrical, and contracting come as no surprise. With his father an electrician and uncle a contractor, this career path only furthers his interest in the building industry. This interest as well as his work ethic have led him to be involved with IES, S:PACE, and SSAE as well as qualification for Phi Alpha Epsilon, Tau Beta Pi, and Sigma Alpha Pi.
