Thesis Abstract

Executive Summary

Lexington II is a residential tower located as part of the Market Square North complex in historic Penn Quarter of Washington D.C. Lexington II is a 12-story building with 72,000 square feet of area. Completed in 2002, Lexington also features below grade parking and retail levels. Lexington II houses 49 individual luxury apartment units and is outfitted with a brick exterior.

The project team for Lexington II consists of Square 407 LP, Studios Architects, The Clark Construction Group, The Thornton Tomasetti Group and GHT, Limited.

Lexington II is cast in place concrete columns and 2-way floor slabs which are supported laterally by centrally located shear walls. The foundation is a MAT foundation supported by piles. The Mechincal system of Lexington II is an hydraulic heat pump. All lighting in Lexington II is flouresent and there is an emengercy generator on the roof.
