Mary Alexis Pacella

In 2001 Alexis Pacella graduated with highest honors from Keystone Oaks High School in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduation, Alexis enrolled in the ABET accredited architectural engineering program at The Pennsylvania State University. Presently Alexis is in an integrated degree program working towards both a B.A.E. and M.A.E. while simultaneously working towards a minor of engineering mechanics. She enjoys the architectural engineering program at PSU because of its unique curriculum combining both engineering and architectural design and understanding into one program. Alexis is in the structural focus and has completed structural engineering classes that include analysis and design of concrete, wood, and steel structural systems as well as completing courses in electrical systems, mechanical systems, and construction management. Alexis will graduate in December of 2006. During her course of study at The Pennsylvania State University, Alexis traveled to Leeds, England in the fall of 2004 where she spent a semester abroad studying civil engineering while being exposed to new cultures and many buildings of historical significance.

In addition to her academics at PSU, Alexis Pacella has been a member of the Phi Sigma Pi co-ed honors fraternity since 2003. Phi Sigma Pi stresses the ideals of scholarship, leadership, and fellowship. Alexis is also a member of the Student Society of Architectural Engineers and has been an engineering mentor to incoming freshmen through her campus's Engineering Mentorship Program. Alexis has been featured on the PSU Dean's list 4 times as well as being on the National Dean's List in both 2004 and 2005. In the spring of 2004 Alexis took and passed the fundamentals of engineering examination and plans to one day achieve her professional engineering license.

Past work experience includes holding an intern position at The Pennsylvania State University Physical Plant's project management department. While working for the physical plant, Alexis checked campus buildings for ADA code compliance and has developed an in depth working knowledge of the ADA code. Alexis also developed a computer database of the data she collected for future reference by the Office of Physical Plant.
