Reflection
Course Reflection:
The year-long Senior Thesis Project in architectural engineering is a challenging endeavor, but I feel that it is an essential part of our curriculum. The technical assignments of the first semester force the student to learn his building inside and out and require refinement of previously learned design skills for building analysis. During the second semester, I believe that everyone gets out of the experience what they put into it. I chose to study blast resistance and progressive collapse because I felt it would be an interesting topic and because it is not really covered anywhere in the curriculum. After thesis, I am confident that I gained knowledge that will be useful in the work environment.
CPEP and Discussion Board Reflection:
First, I would like to express my appreciation to all of the mentors who volunteered their time to answer our questions on the discussion board. The discussion board is a useful tool, and it should continue to be used in future years.
I think that the CPEP site is a good way to keep the coursework organized. I had no web design experience prior to the creation of this website, but it is not a difficult task when starting with a template. The website also provides easy access to the thesis work to anyone that may be interested: professors, potential employers, family members, etc.
