Thesis Proposal
Breadth Studies
After analyzing the Hampton Inn & Suites in technical reports 1, 2, and 3, it is clear that concrete is the right material to use. However, the 10-1/2" flat plate floor system will be redesigned as a thinner post tensioned slab, and the lateral elements of the building will also be reanalyzed in light of the smaller semsic base shear that results from a slimmer slab design.
Breadth studies include an evaluation of the cost and schedule impact that will occur after changing the flooring system. Also, an evaluation of the curtain wall system, in particular the building envelope, will be carried out. A general comparitive study will be presented.
Update: After a few weeks of thesis work, here is an updated proposal. The breadth studies have not changed, nor has the main focus, but the schedule has been updated since the last posting. To see the updated proposal, click here.
