Since Jim was a little boy he liked to paint, draw and sculpt little human figures in clay. He definitively had some artistic flair from a young age. Growing in a home with both professional parents, he started to develop interest in his father work, Jose, who is an architect and a developer. That is likely the reason why he ended up in construction world. Fascinated by his father’s job, Jim showed interest in learning more about the architecture field. At the start, having some confusion between studying architecture or engineering, Jim finally decided that Architectural Engineering was the perfect combination for him. Jim has many other passions in his life. Music and sports are part of his every day life. He started a music band in high school with two other friends and he was the lead singer and lead guitar player. Also, he is a soccer player, and ended up being the captain of the soccer team. I am sure that he plans to be as dedicated in his career as he is in his hobbies. Regarding his work, Jim has gained valuable experience in the construction industry by taking advantage of several internship opportunities. He has worked with four different companies. His first two internships were in Venezuela where he was born. The third internship was in Quantico, VA where he worked for Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., on a state of the art National Museum for the Marine Corps. His last internship was in Bethesda, MD where he worked for Clark Construction Company. Jim is currently a fifth year student in Architectural Engineering with a focus in Construction Management at the Pennsylvania State University. He will be graduating in May 2008 .He plans to expand his construction knoledge in Washington DC where he plans to work after he graduates.
