ABET
Course Reflection Overall I feel that the thesis courses provided insight into real world construction issues and topics. The extensive analysis which was required for the class, created a better understanding of how different aspects of the building affect one and other. Although I have participating in reaseach before, it was not as in depth as my research for senior thesis. During the first the semester of the class, I focused more on gathering important information, and analyzing it. The first semester included a created schedules, site plans and estimates. These procedures were mainly used to get us familiar with our buildings, to avoid any confusion in the upcoming semester. During that first semester all students were required to attend the PACE workshop, where industry members would answer questions pertaining to our curriculum. The workshop was very insightful in determining the topics I would research in the upcoming semester. After the workshop we were asked to finalize our proposal and begin our reseach for the upcoming semester. During the second semester we were asked to use our proposals and apply the research to the issues we found. I decided to try and do four anaylses instead of three, which caused issues with time management during the semester. I struggled the most with my depth topic on Infection Control Research Assessment. It was difficult finding the necessary information needed. I found that communication with industry members played a very important role in the delivery of my final project.
The use of the CPEP site was extremely helpful in providing insight on older presentations and websites. Allowing access to these websites gave me a guideline to follow during the first and second semester of thesis. The discussion board was a convenient and easy way of communicating with numerous industry members at once. The industry members provided quick insight into issues with thesis research. Overall I feel that the CPEP is an effective tool and should be used in the future for sneior thesis.
