“Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in‐progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Nathan Reynolds. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.”

Executive Summary: |
|
The Rutgers University Law School Addition and Renovation project includes the renovation of the existing 98,000 GSF Law School with a 66,800 GSF addition including a bridge joining the two structures. The need for an open floor plan created complexities in the structural system bearing on poor soil conditions. As a result, geopiles were required in the design. In the electrical system, New Jersey buillding code requires this addition to be considered one building and as a result have only one main power and water supply to the entire structure. As a result, the electrical system is reworked through the entire building. |
