SUMMARY The focus of the Final Report was an in depth study of base isolation. To learn more about this structural concept, the Bedtower Addition was moved from wind prone Appleton, Wisconsin to seismic heavy San Francisco, CA. Comparisons were made to show how a base isolation system could truly impact the lateral loads on a structure. My architectural breadth studied the facade of San Francisco State University in order to use its style to change the facade of the Bedtower Addition. Lastly, a cost and schedule analysis of the base isolation was sampled to show its impact on construction and feasibility.
