Alexis is currently a fifth year student of the Architectural Engineering program at Pennsylvania State University. She will graduate in May 2007 with a focus in the lighting and electrical option of the B.A.E program.

The AE curriculum at Penn State attracted Alexis because of the integrated study between creative design and mathematical analysis. Alexis chose to concentrate in the lighting/electrical option because it allowed her to use her problem solving skills to address lighting solutions, and to use her technical knowledge to address electrical design issues. Also, she is particularly interested in sustainable design and hopes to learn more ways to incorporate LEED solutions in future design projects.

Through several internships Alexis experienced a broad range of Architectural Engineering disciplines. In one internship, she was a Project Manager, and she worked closely with structural, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers on a train station renovation project. The internship allowed her to practice teamwork, communication, and technical skills for a complete design project. At another internship, Alexis worked at a lighting manufacturing firm where she expanded her knowledge on the inner workings of a lighting design project. She worked closely with a wide range of architects, engineers, and lighting designers on a day to day basis.

During her free time, Alexis keeps busy serving as Vice President for the Illuminating Engineering Society PSU Student Chapter and a member of the Women in Engineering Program. Also, Alexis enjoys traveling, reading, shopping, and watching Grey's Anatomy with her girlfriends.

Alexis is expected to graduate in May 2007 and will be joining KlingStubbins D.C. team in June. In October 2006, Alexis is scheduled to take the Fundamentals in Engineering Exam. In addition, she expects to achieve her LEED certification within the school year. Alexis looks forward to implementing her knowledge and experience further, while advancing her architectural engineering career toward a Professional Engineering licensure and a Lighting Consultant Certification.
