Devin Maurizio's Bio

Devin grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania, the first American suburb. During his grade school years in Neshaminy School District, he pole vaulted with the indoor and outdoor track & field teams, played trumpet in the Redskin Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble, and was a member of the Llamas Ultimate Frisbee team. Devin focused his academics on technical drafting in residential and commercial architecture, musical performance, and black & white chemical photography.

Penn State offered opportunities for him to combine his abilities in math and science with his personal drive for creativity in the illumination engineering option of the Architectural Engineering curriculum. Devin is currently working towards his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering and his Masters of Architectural Engineering in illumination engineering. While at Penn State, Devin has become involved with the Penn State Ultimate Frisbee club team and the only social and professional fraternity for Architecture and the Allied Arts, Alpha Rho Chi. He held numerous positions as a member of Alpha Rho Chi, including being treasurer for two years, publicity chairperson, and house landlord. Alpha Rho Chi has allowed him to integrate himself into the architecture profession and meet some of the biggest names in architecture, such as Robert Stern and Rafael Vinoly.

For the past two summers, Devin has supplemented his education as an intern lighting designer with two of the most well-known lighting designers in Philadelphia, The Lighting Practice, Inc. and Grenald Waldron Associates. Both internships provided him with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the practical business world of lighting design while also honing his skills at lighting calculations with AGI, presentation design with Adobe Photoshop, and conceptual design and sketching.

In the future, Devin hopes to be able to integrate his abilities and creativity in lighting and electrcal design with his affinity for sustainable design. He just passed the LC exam in exam in November and plans to take the LEED-NC v2.2 exam in January, graduating from Penn State this may as Devin Maurizio, E.I.T., LC, LEED AP.

As of June 4, 2007, Devin will be a full-time electrical engineer for James Posey Associates in Baltimore, MD and looks forward to becoming a member of the building industry in the area.
