Thesis Research

AE 481W/482 Reflection

AE 481W/ 482 has given the opportunity for students to experience the engineering design process of a building first hand. Thesis helps to create a bridge between class work and real world design. Though it may wear on students throughout the academic year, no class can prepare students for the professional work like ae Senior Thesis. This was a valuable learning experience for all 5th year ae students.

Senior Thesis has taught me how the design process impacts everything in a building. Besides the strength of a structure, design can be controlled by serviceability, construction, and/or architecture. Engineers have to deal with such constraints to provide the best solution possible.

CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection

CPEP & Discussion Board were valuable tools utilized by students during the thesis experience. CPEP sites kept students' work organized and readily available to outside professionals. The discussion board gave students the opportunity to interact with industry professionals during thesis work. Industry members were extremely helpful in answering questions that arose over the semester.
