Thesis Proposal: Structural Depth
Structural depth work will involve a redesign of North Shore at Canton. The redesign will involve two separate structural systems. The first is a rigid steel frame with open web floor joist. The second is a precast concrete shear wall system with precast concrete planks. The foundation will be effected by both systems and will e involved in the analysis as well.
Breadth Topic I: Construction Management
Altering the structural system has the potential to save time and money.
An analysis will compare the current building cost and building schedule
to the alternative systems.
Breadth Topic II: Lighting
Since the parking area for this structure is located directly below the town home units, an analysis will be done to determine a safe lighting situation for the residents.
