Thesis Abstract

The University of California, San Diego Cal(IT)2 Building serves as a multi functional space with labs, offices, research facilities, and a 200 seat black-box theater. The entire building is about 220,000 square feet with 7 stories and cost about $61,200,000. The building is being dedicated this October 2005 after 2 years and 10 months of construction. Among the many features of the building is a unique underground "worm-hole" or tunnel through the building from the courtyard to the road on the other side. Cal (IT)2 encompasses many unique building elements and exhibits a modern and technological impact on the University and its campus.
