Thesis Abstract

Columbia Heights Community Center is designed to promote learning and interaction within the community. The facilities that will support this function include classrooms, a computer lab, an art room, dance studio, library, weight / exercise rooms, gymnasium, toilets/locker rooms, stage and dressing rooms, as well as administrative offices. Columbia Heights is also intended to minimize impact to the environment through its Silver LEED Design. It achieves this status through its incorporation of day-lighting, recycled components, environmentally friendly materials, and other aspects that minimize impact to the environment.
