Reflection

AE 481W/482 Course Reflection
I have learned a lot about many things throughout the year in 481 and 482.
In 481, we started by reading through our documents and plans and giving a summary of the building layout, systems, and architecture. This allowed us to become familiar with our building. After that we checked the existing structural systems, which was a good review of much of the material we have learned throughout the years. Next we looked into a few alternate designs for our building. This gave us an idea for our thesis proposals. The third tech assignment was a look at the lateral system of our building. This helped greatly in reviewing/learning lateral design. Lastly we proposed a thesis.
In 482, we worked on, and completed our thesis, and presentation. I learned a lot of design and comparison between building types and material types. This helped a lot for our future in the industry because it showed us a lot of what companies look at and how they work.

CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection
Though I did not contribute to the discussion board very much, I received a lot of help with my thesis through questions asked by other students. It was a valuable tool for aiding us all in thesis, along with keeping everyone notified of upcoming events and job openings.
The CPEP website was a good tool show our work without having to spend the money to print multiple copies out and such. Also, it allowed a wider audience to view our progress and our work.
