Welcome to Nicole Hazy's AE Senior Thesis e-Portfolio

Nicole began her interest in architectural engineering in high school taking drafting classes that taught residential design and construction. After traveling to Italy, Switzerland, and France her interest in buildings and their designs grew greatly. Deciding to attend Penn State University to accomplish her long-term goals in the building industry was an easy decision to make. Nicole is studying for a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering and a Master of Architectural Engineering at PSU. She plans to graduate with both degrees in December of 2006.

Nicole had the opportunity to see what structural engineering is about this past summer. She worked for Atlantic Engineering Services in Pittsburgh as an intern. There she was able to use the knowledge she has gained thus far at Penn State and also acquired many new skills. Her internship also provided her with a vast knowledge of the RAM and STAAD.PRO modeling programs. This summer Nicole also was able to develop an Excel program that transforms ASCE7 wind loads into pressures on a building varying with height. Nicole is also a member of the SSAE student organization and she also works as a teaching assistant for AE 211, the Building Materials class.
