Takanori TAIRA

Takanori Taira, known as "Taka" among his friends and acquaintances, is a student at the Pennsylvania State University currently in his fifth year in the architectural engineering program. Having lived in Japan for until he turned 20, Taka came to the United States in 1999 to enroll and complete this internationally acknowledged program.

In the summer of 2004, Taka worked as an intern for Francis Krahe & Associates in Los Angeles. He also traveled across the country through numerous cities as part of a once-in-a-life-time experience. Taka has emphasized lighting/electrical in his major to take advantage of both his engineering knowledge and artistic capability for designing, which he always has dreamed to accomplish. He also enrolled in the integrated master's/bachelor's degree in the spring of 2004 and expects to graduate in May of 2006.

Socially Taka always has positive attitude and keeps himself busy by being the president of the International Friendship House in State College. In this role he is able to help his 20 housemates to have “the most international experiences in State College possible” and also to make the international students’ society more active. In his private time, he is a person who enjoys playing music with his guitar and blues harp, singing, rollerblading and playing soccer. Taka is a travel-loving person who has visited most of the states in USA by way of his old but dependable '94 Toyota Tercel.
