AE 481W/482 Reflection

I think the point of thesis is to learn by applying the knowledge and skills we’ve learned in the classroom to a more realistic situation.  While there are guidelines to building selection, I think that it would be extremely beneficial to have more assistance available during the selection process.  It would be ideal if companies familiar with the expectations of our senior thesis could sponsor students, providing them with necessary documents and contact(s) to field questions.  In doing so, I believe that this would provide an additional avenue to ensure that students have access to the information needed to make their projects a success and prepare them for their careers.  Overall, I found the thesis experience to be very rewarding.

CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection

I thought that the Capstone Project Electronic Profile (CPEP) was an excellent way of organizing thesis reports and information.  It was a great tool for keeping professors, companies, family and friends informed about my progress throughout the year.

The discussion board was an excellent source of information.  Having access to industry professionals to field questions was very rewarding.  While I think that the discussion board could be used more by students, I found it very beneficial and learned a lot from the questions and responses posted.  I was also very impressed with the timeliness of replies from the industry.
