AE 481W/482 Course Reflection

The 5th year AE curriculum is by far the most rigorous year of an AE's collegiate life. It is from the late nights and hard deadlines that we gain the most perspective on what is required from us in this profession. The lessons learned throughout the year (and there have been many) have provided us with the most solid and fundamental starting point for a career that a young engineer could hope to have - that there is no substitute for some honest hard work, and that we can be proud of what we can accomplish. We found out that it is ok if we don'tk now the answer to every question, and that asking for a little help is not a sign of weakness, but rather an opportunity for even more learning. In the end, we learned that we are all capable of doing things that we had never thought possible. To combine everything we have learned into a culminating year of experience that resembles the real world industry is truly a testament to the AE program.

CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection

Enough can not be said about the CPEP site and the practitioners on the discussion board. One of the most influential and helpful tools available to us was the ability to ask any question at any time - day or night - and have it be answered by a number of industry professionals. It was almost impossible not to benefit from such a wealth of knowledge available to us at one location. Questions posed not only by ourselves, but by our peers, were answered promptly thanks to the willingness and kindness of the practitioners, who made the entire board possible.
