Thesis Abstract

1050 K Street is a 143,000 square foot office building located in downtown Washington, D.C. The first level provides retail space while floors 2-11 are designated as office spaces. Below grade, there are an additional 4 levels of parking. The street facing facades are clad in an energy efficient curtain wall, and the various roof levels boast two different types of green roof systems. 1050 K Street is expected to obtain a LEED CS Gold rating upon completion.

As part of the Library of Congress, The National Audio Visual Conservation Center is designed to conserve, store, and play all different types of media. Stretching almost 400,000 SF, 3 of the 4 levels are almost entirely below grade. With about $120 million in construction costs, NAVCC is expected to be completed in February of 2007.
