Reflection

AE 481W/482 Course Reflection

The AE senior thesis project is a great way to culminate the curriculum.  It has students to draw on their past five years of education and brings context to everything they’ve done.  The technical assignments of the fall semester force the student to study every aspect of their building and prepare them to formulate and execute their thesis.  The thesis itself mimics design work that a student might encounter while working in the industry.  A practical application of knowledge such as this is an excellent educational capstone.

CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection

The CPEP sites are practically a necessity in today’s modern age.  They provide an efficient and exciting outlet for students to organize, submit and share work as well as express themselves.  Unfortunately, I found the templates and recommended editing program difficult to use and often struggled to make them perform as desired.

The discussion boards are an excellent tool for students.  Although posting a questions does not grantee and reply, the boards connect students to an impressive panel of industry professionals from various backgrounds, creating a powerful leaning environment that spans years of experience.
