BIOGRAPHY

Jason Fair is a fifth year senior at The Pennsylvania State University enrolled in the 5 year ABET accredited Architectural Engineering program. Within this AE program Jason has chosen to focus his studies on the mechanical systems of buildings. Upon graduation in May of 2006 with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering (BAE), Jason will also obtain his Engineer In Training (EIT) status. As a student at Penn State Jason has become involved in many organizations including the student branch of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Alliance Christian Fellowship (ACF). A student member of ASHRAE since the fall semester of 2004, Jason currently holds the position of Publicity Chair within this student society and is responsible for announcements and advertising on campus for the PSU ASHRAE branch. As a member of the ACF organization Jason is a trustee helper responsible for transportation and set up of musical equipment for Sunday morning worship service.

Not only is Jason involved in many activities but he also has great diversity in his work experience. The past summer from May 9th to August 19th Jason worked as an intern for Mueller Associates in Baltimore, MD. During this time he was responsible for calculating building thermal loads, ductwork design and layout, pump head calculations, fan static pressure calculations, surveying existing building conditions, and punch lists for new construction. His main achievement this summer, with the guidance of Gary Johnson of Mueller Associates, was the design of a new heating ventilation and air-conditioning system for an existing neglected middle school in the Baltimore City Public School system. In addition to design work Jason also has much knowledge in the construction side of the building industry. Since 1996 he has worked as a flooring installer in numerous residential and some commercial sites. In 2000 he decided to venture out as a subcontractor starting his business, Fair Flooring. Jason has continued to install floors since then to help fund his college career. Before getting into the flooring trade, Jason worked with his father and brothers in general residential construction and renovation. This experience included framing, installing electrical switches and outlets, drywall, painting, decks, replacement windows and doors, awnings, and vinyl siding.

Through the use of his degree and experience, Jason plans to pursue licensing as a Professional Engineer.
