Welcome to Jonathan Burke's AE Senior Thesis e-Portfolio
Thesis Proposal
This thesis will analyze the affects of the green roof. The benefits being
looked at are storm water retention, heat island reduction, cooling load
reduction, and the LEED certification. Each of these benefits are directly
related to the volume or area of the green roof, so this thesis will find
the optimum size of the green roof, i.e. 40% of the roof compared to 90%
of the roof.
The Breadth Analysis will examine how a green roof can effect the other
areas of design. These include structural design, construction costs, and
construction times.
