AE 481/482 Course Reflection
The first course, AE 481, was a class designed to teach us how to analyze our existing building, and get a firm understanding of how the mechanical systems work. This class allowed us to become more familiar with industry standards, and design programs such as Carrier's HAP or Trane's TRACE. After completing the first course, AE 482 required the students to redesign or analyze parts of the building. The final project was presented in the form of a written report and presentation.
Throughout the course of this project, I have learned how all the different disciplines interact. One mechanical system can affect civil engineering designs, structural designs, electrical designs, and architectural designs. This project also allowed me to form contacts with many different companies. Overall I was happy with the knowledge I gained by working on this project. I think it was an excellent learning tool to research many aspects of design that is not covered in the normal curriculum.
CPEP Reflection
Aside from the reports and presentations due throughout the year, we had to keep a web page updated. At the start of this project I knew nothing about web page design. I was happy to see that the pre-designed web pages looked great, and were very easy to update. Even though I did not learn as much as I expected about web page design, I now know the basics of web page layout and design.
