Thesis Research

Lighting Reference:

The IESNA Lighting Handbook Reference and Application Ninth Edition.

Illumination Engineering Society of North America.

IESNA handbook is the main reference resource for all the lighting issues such as design requirements/criteria, lighting applications, light loss factors calculations, recommended light levels for specific spaces, etc.

ANSI/ASHRAE 90.1-2001: Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings. IP Edition.

American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc.

ASHRAE provides the energy requirements in architectural engineering. ASHRAE standard was used for all the power density allowance for lighting calculations.

Daylighting Reference:

Daylighting Performance and Design: Second Edition.

Ander, Gregg D., John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Daylighting Performance and Design provided some daylighting ideas and references for daylighting systems.

Rendering with Radiance, The Art and Science of Lighting Visualization, Revised Edition.

Larson, Greg Ward and Shakespeare Rob.

Rendering with Radiance was used for the main reference of assistance in Radiance calculation parameters and techniques

Electrical Reference:

Hughes, David.  Electrical Systems in Buildings.

Delmar Publishers Inc.

Electrical Systems in Buildings was used for assitance of standard electrical design principles to various electrical design problems. Concrete examples used in this book were very useful to know typical electrical design problems.

2002 National Electric Code, International Electrical Codes Series.

National Fire Protection Association.

2002 NEC provides design guidelines and standards for electrical engineering to size all equipments such as conduit, conductors, circuit breakers, etc.

Mechanical References:

Mechanical and Electrical Equipment for Buildings. Ninth Edition.

Stein and Reynolds, John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

This book provided numerous design guidelines for mechanical conditions. For my thesis, this book was used only for heat gain calculation with the daylighting system installed.
