Thesis Proposal

Executive Summary

Hydrogen generation though electrolysis powered with tidal generators will be utilized to heat and power the Seawater Research Laboratory. Initial Research will include analysis of the characteristics of the York River and rates of hydrogeneration through electrolysis.

Breadth Work

The proposed breath redesign includes, analysis of the electrical system, the acoustical analysis of a turbine generator that would be used for cogeneration, and the life cyclce cost savings from the purchased equipment compared to the savings of purchased electricity.. The analysis of the electrical system will explore any possibility that will allow for reduced electrical consumption to keep the size of the tidal generators as small as possible. A gas turbine generator will be used for a cogeneration process because the parts of a internal combustion generator might melt from the high temperatures created from using hydrogen as a fuel.
