Paul Parfitt

Paul Parfitt was born and raised in the rural town of State College Pennsylvania. He attended State College High School where he participated in many activities including varsity track and cross country all four years. He graduated from State High with honors as a faculty scholar and began attending the Pennsylvania State University in the fall of 2002.

Being a part of the McGyver generation as a child, Paul has always enjoyed the inner workings of technology and the way things work. His ambition to become an architectural engineer and work in the field of building forensics and historical preservation continues today. Paul is currently in his 11th semester at Penn State in the 5-1/2 year ABET accredited BAE/MAE program, with a structural emphasis. During the course of his studies at Penn State, Paul has furthered his education in many ways, including interning at Symmes Maini and McKee Associates in Boston as well as studying abroad in Rome Italy. Paul also participates in enhancing the AE student body’s experience as well. He is a part of many student organizations such as Student Society of Architectural Engineers and serving as an officer in the Penn State chapter of Structural Engineers Association. In the spring of 2006 Paul was accepted into the integrated BAE/MAE program and will graduate in December of 2007 with a Bachelors and Master degree in Architectural Engineering.

After graduation, Paul hopes to pursue a career in the Forensics/Building Technology field. During his professional development in this field Paul has the ambition to join a firm that employs a repelling team for building investigations that are unique in that access to them is challenging. Furthering the idea of difficult access and failures investigations, Paul also wishes to become part of FEMA's search and rescue teams for his location.

Paul's senior thesis study of Tower 333 won first place for the structural options.
