AE 481W/482 Course Reflection
The senior thesis experience was a very, if not the most, beneficial experience in my structural engineering degree here at Penn State. The most worth wile aspect of the project was the opportunity if afforded me to look into the practical applications of more alternative structural elements. This is a portion of structural engineering that we don't experience much in academic settings although through my discussions with industry members I've found these materials will and must play a large role in how we look at structures of the future. Another worth wile element of senior thesis was the opportunity to act as a multi-discipline engineer designing other breadth systems besides the traditional structural depth. I plan to practically apply the knowledge I've gained through this thesis far into my professional career.
CPEP & Discussion Board Reflection
The CPEP site was first and foremost an opportunity to refresh our knowledge on the ease of web design through programs such as Dreamweaver. Through the convenience of project knowledge transfer, as displayed with our CPEP Sites, that web design offers our industry, we without a doubt will make use of these tools deep into our career. The thesis discussion board added many benefits through the helpful design professionals that were happy and willing to assist one e-mail away. It was nice to have help for those questions not technical enough for the design team of our individual project but still out of our own scope of knowledge. Thank you to all for you gracious help. |
