   ae 481w/482 course reflection

the senior thesis process is a challenging, educational experience that thoroughly reinforces the education provided by the architectural engineering curriculum. this project proved to be one of the most educational parts of my college education as it forced me to integrate several areas of study. upon the start of the course, we were expected to have a basic understanding of the engineering process, but this project brought our education to the next level by forcing us to learn new concepts, interpret the code, and use our engineering discretion to judge the appropriateness of our outcomes. without this required thesis project I would not feel as prepared to enter the engineering profession.

   cpep and discussion board reflection

the required cpep site was a helpful tool in organizing our senior thesis work and helping potential employers gauge our understanding of the material. the archived work from previous years was also beneficial for viewing to understand what is expected throughout the thesis process.

the discussion board was one of the most valuable assets during the spring semester of thesis. while the faculty was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, there were times when it was necessary to ask an outside resource, and this was when the discussion board became invaluable. the practitioners have such a wealth of knowledge that it is quite a unique opportunity for us to supplement our education. the practitioners were always willing to help us make progress and often offered to take time out of their busy schedules to provide us with a better understanding.
