Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work-in-progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Stephen. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
THESIS PROPOSAL: Integration of a structural depth and two breadth studies.
PROPOSAL
Structural Depth: The main structural elements to be redesigned will be the shear wall elements and tendon layouts. Investigations will be made determine changes such as self weight, story drift and total drift cause by lateral forces, overturning moments, base shear, torsion, deflection and bending moments in slabs. The main goal is to determine the most optimum combination.
Breadth Study I: The architectural breadth will focus on the redesigning of the facade system, but will still maintain the same appearance. Its preformance will be analyzed and compared with the existing one. Due to the resizing of structural elements and relocation of columns, there will be a need to resize or relocate rooms. Case studies will also be conducted on a convenient developed architectural plan for the different occupants
Breadth Study II: The construction breadth study will focus on value engineering techniques to reduce construction time and cost. There will also be an emphasis on sustainable features as the owner is seeking LEEDs certification for the building. This will include the study on how the building can utilize the surrounding resources, such as the artificial pond and existing green roofs. Tasks for each study were organized in a gaunt chart for correlation.

REVISED PROPOSAL
Structural Depth: Due to the Baby Boomer Population, there is a shortage and large demand for more retirement homes. A prototype of Ingleside at King Farm will be designed and relocated in various places throughout the U.S. Particularly high seismic and hurricane zones to test the overall strength design and serviceability of the prototype's structural system. The main structural elements will be redesigned with steel elements. Investigations will be made to determine the necessary lateral system for story drift and total drift cause by lateral forces, overturning moments, base shear, torsion, deflection. The gravity system will also be redesigned in steel.
Breadth Study I: The architectural breadth will focus on the redesigning of the facade system, but will still maintain the same appearance. Its performance will be analyzed and compared with the existing one as there will be a difference in climate activities due to different locations. An investigation will also be carried out to solve any structural related issues, such as anchoring issues of the facade and impact preformance of airborne debris from high winds.
Breadth Study II: The sustainability breadth study will focus on value engineering techniques to reduce construction time and cost. This will include the study on how the building can utilize the surrounding resources, such as the artificial pond and existing green roofs to conserve energy.
