Five years of undergraduate education are coming to a close. My final thesis has been presented and posted. I am three final exams away from graduation. Now is a time of reflection and change.
The senior thesis program is an integral and crucial component of my Architectural Engineering education. I have learned a lot in the last year; from research to analysis, communication to presentation, my skills have been put to the test. While it is indeed a stressful process to go through, it is a beneficial component of the AE degree. I enjoyed getting closer with my classmates as we collaborate and helped each other through thesis. I also enjoyed tapping into the knowledge I gained in various courses taken at Penn State.
Completing a thesis also created tangible proof of my capabilities as an Architectural Engineer. I have a real product I can see as a testament to my abilities, a reward of sorts for the hard work put forth in my educational career. A thesis is not only a valuable learning tool; it is also a sort of portfolio that can be used in my professional career.
I am glad to finally arrive at the culmination of my undergraduate education. Completing thesis was hard but achievable. The faculty, staff, students and professionals made it a true success; we all owe our thanks to their help and support. And in the end, I will be proud to call myself an AE grad.
