Chris is a fifth year student in Penn State's five year Architectural Engineering program with a discipline in structural design. Chris' main involvement outside of my coursework is serving as President of the Penn State Theme Park Engineering Group.
This past summer Chris served as a research assistant for the Architectural Engineering department. He was tasked with completing the design, fabrication, and installation of a new lateral racking facility for prefabricated wooden wall panels. He will be continuing his work on the facility throughout his last year at Penn State and expects to have the facility operational.
During the summer of 2012 Chris interned in the engineering department at Universal Orlando Resort. There he was exposed to the modification, improvement, and maintenance process that such parks undergo to keep their venues operating and improving. Chris was guided through the steps necessary to implement the department's projects and ultimately was able to complete the process for his own assigned projects with the assistance of his superiors.
Chris has also served as a ride host at Cedar Point on Top Thrill Dragster, not only one of the tallest and fastest rides in the world, but also one of the most mechanically complex. Serving as a ride host gave him very valuable insight and knowledge into engineering in the Amusement Industry.
Chris has attended the IAAPA convention in Orlando, FL in 2011 and 2012 as well as the ASTM F24 Engineering Standards conference for Amusement Rides and Devices in February of 2012 and 2013.
