This final report summarizes the structual overview and modifications made during this project. The concentrically braced frames were converted to eccentrically braced frames and the compared. The new concentric frames were found to offer much greater stiffness but impose on the facade's architecture. The new frames also allowed for a reduced material and installation cost. Additionally, a green roof was proposed for the structure, and it's impact on the building expressed. Also, research was done on the building's relationship to daylighting. Shadow patterns were determined in June and January, and at three different times during the day. From the information gathered, solutions to better shade the building were proposed. |
