JMV | Final Report

This thesis report contains an overview of the existing concrete structural design of Rockville Metro Plaza II as well the proposed steel redesign. The structural redesign is divided into two sections: the gravity system and the lateral system. The redesign of the gravity system employs a composite steel floor and the lateral system incorporated concrete shear walls with steel moment frames.

Two breaths were also completed in addition to the structural depth. An architectural study assesses impacts the new steel system will have on the building's layout. A construction management study investigates the viability of the redesign based on the criteria of cost and schedule duration.
