Mary Longenecker

Full Resume

Mary decided to pursue a career in architectural engineering at Penn State as a way of combining her loves of buildings and science.  She will be graduating in August 2007 from the integrated BAE/MAE program with honors (structural option).

During her time in college, Mary decided to apply her interest in historic preservation by attending the Preservation PA conference in 2003 and the Italy Field School in Historic Preservation, organized by the University of Oregon.  Sustainability and the green movement also became interests during her coursework.  As a result, Mary is now a project coordinator for the American Indian Housing Initiative, which is working to promote the use of indigenous building materials on reservations.  She spent a summer at HSC Builders and Construction Managers writing and publishing the first edition of the Project Management Procedures Manual.  Recently, Mary was an intern at Baker, Ingram & Associates, where she assisted in the structural design of numerous school projects.

Upon graduation, Mary plans to pursue her professional license, as well as to continue her involvement in both the green and preservation movements.
